PROGRAM INFORMATION
“Developing leaders who will
speak forcefully and articulately for agriculture and Wyoming
communities”
The Wyoming L.E.A.D. Program is a 14
month statewide adult leadership program for people who are in
agriculture and rural communities. Participants learn about
communication, leadership skills, ag policy, international
trade, rural economics, state and national government, business
and estate planning, natural resource management, marketing and
media relations to name a few.
The Wyoming L.E.A.D. Program meets ten
times over the course of the 14 month period. Eight seminars are
held throughout the state of Wyoming to familiarize the fellows
with the diversity Wyoming offers and the challenges each area
faces. The group participates in a National Government Seminar
in Washington, D.C., spending a week with national ag
organizations, our congressional staff and other key groups
learning about how agriculture fits into our nations policies.
The highlight at the end of the program is an International
Study Tour, where the group visits another country to learn
about their agriculture, government, trade and economic issues.
Each seminar is a mixture of panels
and experts visiting about their area of expertise in topics
that are related to agriculture, natural resources and energy.
Included are group discussions that enhance the knowledge and
understanding of a given topic. Tours of area industries
increase the awareness of the participant to the businesses that
affect Wyoming as a state.
