JOIN L.E.A.D.

Class 12 will begin in the fall of 2011. Applications are now available and are due in the summer of 2011.

The Wyoming L.E.A.D. Program selects up to 18 participants with preference given to applicants who are associated with agriculture. Candidates apply for admission indicating their reasons for wanting to participate. Successful candidates have demonstrated leadership potential and willingness to serve as ambassadors for the agriculture industry.

L.E.A.D. Class 12 schedule is listed below. This schedule is provided to help make you aware of the time commitment involved and topics covered if you are selected as a Wyoming L.E.A.D. fellow:

3. Ag Policy, Programs & Trade January 11-13, 2012 Casper
4. State Government February 21-24, 2012 Cheyenne
5. National Government end of April 2012 Washington, D.C.
6. Rural Economics, Marketing & Entrepreneurship June 6-8, 2012 Afton
7. Estate Planning & Family Relations August 16-18, 2012 Douglas
8. Natural Resources & Energy September 20-22, 2012 Kemmerer
9. International Study Tour November 2012 TBD
10. Implementation & Achievement January 10-12, 2013 Saratoga

A brief sampling of seminar topics includes the following: team building, niche marketing, ag diversification, federal land policy, mediation, understanding farm programs, media message development, interpreting agricultural policy, understanding the legislative process, state water issues, Wyoming fiscal policies, business planning, effective listening, estate and tax planning, emerging energy issues, coordinated resource management, the oil & gas and mineral industries, foreign trade issues, economic development, emerging agricultural issues and new research and technologies in agriculture.

In addition to seminar presentations, local tours are scheduled to enable participants to gain an understanding of Wyoming communities. Throughout the program, participants have an opportunity to meet with the state and national elected officials, state agency directors, agricultural organizations and other industry leaders.
