| SEMINAR 1 - UCROSS, WYOMING - DEANNA CROFTS
- NOVEMBER 2011 |
Fundamentals of Communication kick started the
Wyoming L.E.A.D. Class 12. The quiet and peaceful
setting near Ucross, WY was a great location to gain
perspective for the opportunities that lie ahead in the
next 14 months of the program. Participants found it
easy to share common threads and they possess a harmony
that is unfamiliar to many. The Wyoming L.E.A.D. Class
of 2012 is ready to learn!

| Seminar 2 - Cody, Wyoming - J.W. Hendry -
December 2011 |
Wyoming LEAD Class 12 met in Cody Dec 4th
through 7th for our second seminar.
We had a great time.
A big thank you goes out to Slim Cook for getting
us invitations to the Irma Hotel Christmas party Sunday
night. Monday we
participated in the fish bowl day exercises and had our
banquet dinner at the Irma
Hotel. Tuesday we headed to
Powell to the UW Research Station.
Along the way we stopped at Dave Winninger’s Cow
Country Genetics where they do embryo transfer in
cattle. At the UW
Research Station the director gave us an overview of
what work they do and an irrigation specialist talked to
us about the different kinds of irrigation research they
are doing to benefit farmers in
Wyoming.
A guy from Heart Mountain Equipment taught us
about GPS
farming which I didn’t realize was used that much in
Wyoming.
We also visited Gluten-Free Oats, a new Wyoming start-up
business, where they process and market oats to people
who have an intolerance to gluten-based products.
Wednesday we participated in some group
activities and toured the Y-Tex plant in Cody where they
make a wide variety of livestock tags.

| SEMINAR 3 - CASPER, WYOMING - CHERI
STEINMETZ - JANUARY 2012 |
| After braving ice sheeted roads, the resilient 2012
Wyoming LEAD Fellows met in Casper WY. Ag policy,
programs and social media were presented by speakers
along with presentations from current LEAD participants.
The class made videos to send to inner school children
that they will be visiting via the Provider Pals Program
in April during their trip to Washington DC. The session
was a success, and a good time was had by all. The next
LEAD class will be held in Cheyenne WY during the 2012
Legislative Session. |
